Fixed home storage. A different regime entirely from plug-in solar: notified to your network operator under G98 or G99 and installed by a certified installer.
The rules that actually apply here
Home storage is a fixed installation. It is notified to the local network operator under G98 (up to 16A per phase) or applied for under G99 above that, and MCS certification of the installer is what unlocks the grant and export schemes. The 800W cap and the plug-and-socket test from SI 2026/848 have nothing to do with this category — that instrument governs plug-in solar only.
The register
The storage device has been type tested against G98 (and where it applies, G99) — the same engineering rules that govern anything generating or discharging alongside the grid, including the anti-islanding test. We mirror the Energy Networks Association’s register daily, keep a record of what changes, and give every entry a page of its own with a permanent URL — which is the part their own search cannot do.
Where the register stops. The register lists devices, not installations. It says nothing about who fitted yours, whether it was notified to your network operator, or whether the installer holds MCS certification.

Wattcheck started on plug-in solar because that register is new, short, and nobody had connected it to what is actually on sale. The register side of home batteries is live today; the shopping side is not built, and we would rather say so than show an empty table that reads as though nobody sold anything.
